Methods
Different resources were used for the development of the intervention concept. The training was based on the guidelines which were developed in the previous research project (link to brochure). Furthermore, different theories, best-practice examples and controversial discourses were taken in account. The purpose was to develop a practical, coherent and didactic diversified training.
Following project steps have been / will be realized :
1. Literature and Manual Research
In an extensive research on international scientific publications on the concerned topic as well as on international published training manuals, the literature was systematically rated by its relevance for the psychotherapeutic context.
2. Conceptualization of the training
On the basis of the research we designed initially a rough concept, which was discussed and accordingly modified in a first step in the critical exchange with various professional and non-professional representatives of migrant organisations and in a second step with experts in the field of cross-cultural trainings for (mental) health care staff. Based on this modifications the basic concept was elaborated to a detailed concept, including the relevant training materials.
3. Usability-test
Before the intended training is implemented, there will be a trial practice with psychology students. The training concept will be modified with the given suggestions and inspirations.
4. Implementation of the training
The cross-cultural training will be evaluated in Hamburg and Berlin. In both cities there will be one training conducted for psychotherapists in further education and one for licensed psychotherapists.
5. Evaluation of the training
The scientific evaluation of the training includes qualitative as well as a quantitative survey contents. The views of the participants and of the instructor will be integrated. Concluding the results of the evaluation will be discussed with the involved representatives of migrants and experts.
