Goals of the project
This project aims to develop national guidelines in Germany for cross-cultural competence training for psychotherapists and psychotherapists in advanced training. These guidelines must be precise and verifiable.
The development and adoption of the guidelines happened with the approval of various scientists, representatives of psychotherapeutic and medical associations, practicing psychotherapists and patients with migration background. The guidelines shall help to firmly establish the quality of the intercultural competency of psychotherapists in their basic or advanced formation. Furthermore, the guidelines will form an important guidance for teachers, researchers, trainees and training providers and are one part of the cross-cultural opening process in the psychosocial health care system in Germany.
Thus, the long-term goal of the project is the improvement of the social participation of people with migration background as well as the improvement of the equal access to psychosocial health care for this patient group.
